The City of Kirkland is conducting a Juanita Drive Corridor Study
The City is developing a master plan for future improvements to the Juanita Drive Corridor between Juanita Village and the northern City limits in Finn Hill. A key route around the northern end of Lake Washington between Kirkland and Kenmore, Juanita Drive serves over 10,000 vehicles per day and traverses steep topography with many twists, turns, and hills. The existing roadway geometry, multiple driveway access points, and limited sight distance complicate overall safety conditions along the corridor.
Developing a robust plan for the Juanita Drive Corridor is an important first step to identify improvements that will benefit all users of the corridor. To better understand community concerns related to the Juanita Drive Corridor and to develop solutions to improve safety and mobility in the future, the City of Kirkland encourages residents to get involved. Corridor improvements identified in the final master plan will be considered for inclusion in the 2015-2020 Citywide Capital Improvement Program.
Public Involvement
Community involvement will be key to developing and implementing a successful corridor master plan for Juanita Drive. To prepare a common vision for future improvements to the corridor, the City will gather input from the community at public workshops, briefings with neighborhood groups, and informational booths at local events. Also, a community-based advisory committee has been formed to serve as a forum for additional dialogue and information sharing among community members and city staff in developing the final master plan.
