Goat Hill Neighbors Act to Save Forest

Goat Hill neighbors came together in May at a Goat Hill resident’s home to discuss the Juanita Heights Park expansion and trail project. FHNA is working with the City to help it acquire as much of  the remaining forest on Goat Hill as possible. At the neighbors’ meeting, FHNA board members covered the history and mission of FHNA – in particular its role in preserving and protecting the Finn Hill forests. A good portion of the meeting focused on how to preserve the Goat Hill’s remaining forested properties and how to fund the acquisition of those woodlands. FHNA hopes to extend the boundaries of Juanita Heights Park down Goat Hill and to create a trail system that connects the top of Finn Hill to Juanita Beach. The City of Kirkland has committed funds to this project, but private donations will also be needed to acquire all of the parcels required to preserve the green space on the southern flank of Finn Hill.  FHNA plans to launch a campaign to raise funds for these acquisitions.
