Expedia volunteers work in Juanita Woodlands

On Friday Sept 8, over 60 Expedia employees dived into helping us maintain Juanita Woodlands’ native vegetation by removing invasive plants, lead by King County Parks and FHNA volunteers.  Expedia has had annual gatherings in the park for several years, and is a major contributor to keeping the park vegetation healthy. I heard a recent story of heirs squabbling over the matriarch’s reusable shopping bags picked up in 1968 in Mexico, and still used 2x a week. At 5c/use she would have saved $235 per bag! For more...

Environmental and Adventure School (EAS) students are back in our beloved parks for their valued contributions to our healthy Finn Hill ecosystem. Today they tackled a patch in Big Finn Hill Park that has been receiving much TLC over the last couple of years.   Initially Microsoft attacked the large blackberry patch pulling, pushing and tearing it back 40 feet from the trail. EAS followed closely on their heels and planted a diverse selection of cedar, doug fir, hemlock, Indian plum, elderberry last fall. Blackberries are persistent, so aren’t...
