No more Roman candles & bottle rockets

A reminder now that Finn Hill is part of Kirkland. As plans for the July 4th “Celebrate Kirkland!” community event are finalized, the Kirkland Police and Fire Departments encourage residents and visitors to celebrate safely and legally and offer the following tips: Comply with the City’s fireworks ban. The sale, possession and discharge of all fireworks are prohibited within Kirkland city limits.  This includes the recently annexed areas of Finn Hill, North Juanita, and Kingsgate. Report fireworks violations. Persons observing non-emergency violations of the fireworks ban should contact NORCOM Police Dispatch at (425) 577-5656 and a Kirkland Police officer will be dispatched when available.  In the event of an emergency, please call 9-1-1. Keep pets safe. Most pets are upset by fireworks and should be kept inside.  Report lost and found pets to King County Regional Animal Services at 206-296-7387 (PETS). Carpool if you can. Many activities are happening in downtown Kirkland and parking may be limited.  Visitors are encouraged to carpool, ride transit or use other alternate means of transportation. Observe parking rules. The parking lot at Marina Park (6 a.m. – midnight), Heritage Park (6 a.m. – 2 p.m.), and Lake Street (6 a.m. -2 p.m.) will be closed on July 4th. giveBIG on June 23 is chance to get matching dollars for DCNA

Friends of DCNA: Great news: If you make a gift to DCNA on June 23, the Seattle Foundation will chip in as well! DCNA has been able to accomplish a lot over the years thanks to your generosity. For those of you have already given using the contribution envelopes in our newsletter, we thank you! And for those of you who haven’t gotten ‘round to that…or want to give more…the Seattle Foundation’s giveBIG event on June 23 will make your contribution go further: Donations made through the Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG website between 7am and midnight on June 23 to qualified organizations – like DCNA – will earn an additional gift from the Foundation and local businesses sponsors. And you can win a Golden Ticket, too! When you make your donation, you could be chosen at random to entitle DCNA to receive an additional $1000 from GiveBIG’s sponsors. The amount of additional funding DCNA earns through GiveBIG will depend on how much we receive on June 23 from folks like you, so… please…give BIG! We have plenty of great things to do with the donations that come in: trail restoration and trail mapping in O.O. Denny and Big Finn Hill Parks, reforestation in the Juanita Woodlands and Big Finn Hill Parks, outreach to schools for environmental education and restoration programs, our DennyFest neighborhood celebration on September 18, and long-term planning...
