Xmas Boats A Blazing Success

This year’s Xmas Boats came to O.O. Denny Park at sunset on Sunday. The Finn Hill  Neighborhood (FHNA) gave them a huge welcome. Nearly 600 people cheered as a huge  bonfire lit the night. Luminarias lit the way. The dry, mild weather added to the celebration. The carolers on the boats were easily heard and they had a great program of Xmas and Hanukah songs. FHNA volunteers handed out over 300 hot chocolates, and provided the bonfire, luminarias, and equipment. Donations to cover the cost of the event are greatly appreciated. Local Emergency Charging

Kirkland and Inglewood Presbyterian Church (IPC) have agreed on staging an emergency generator for Finn Hill residents to charge electronic devices and have a warm space when the power goes down. The main concern was to have a charging facility for medical devices. The church plans on having the generator run from 8 AM to 8 PM when necessary. Kirkland has bought the $18,000 generator, upgraded the church’s electric, and will pay for fuel. The church will give the space for the generator and charging room free. “For the past several years Kirkland been working with Finn Hill residents on a siting study to locate a fire station that provides timely fire and emergency medical response times to the largest possible area in the north end of Kirkland,” says Fire Chief Kevin Nalder.
