Zoning on Juanita Dr

Dear Finn Hill Residents: As you know, FHNA has been following the Planning Commission’s review of a request for zoning changes for properties located along the west side of Juanita Drive, at the intersection with 122nd Place and Holmes Point Drive, and across the road from the Shell station and the Village Mart. In brief, the zoning amendment would remove the requirement for retail space in any development of the affected properties. Planning Commission looks at zoning change for parcels on Juanita Drive

  On Thursday, October 25, at 7pm, the Kirkland Planning Commission will hold its second study session on a potential zoning amendment for 4 properties located on the western side of Juanita Drive at the intersections with Holmes Point Drive and 122nd (Finn Hill Shell service station and the retail shops including Plaza Garcia).   Summary: The Planning Commission is considering a recommendation to replace BNA zoning (retail/multi-family housing) on 3 of the properties, and RMA zoning (multi-family) on the 4th property, with PRA zoning (professional/multi-family) zoning. FHNA board endorses Kirkland park levy – Prop 2

The FHNA board has unanimously voted to endorse Proposition 2, the levy that supports Kirkland parks. The board concluded that the levy is not only beneficial to Kirkland as a whole but is also particularly good for Finn Hill because it generates funding to maintain O.O. Denny Park permanently and  to acquire new parks for neighborhoods that need open space – such as the eastern side of Finn Hill. City Leaders Present Park and Road Levy Proposals

Wednesday, October 3 – Open Meeting to Review Kirkland Roads and Parks Levies: As previously announced, FHNA sponsored a neighborhood meeting  in the cafeteria of Finn Hill Jr High (132nd and 84th) to review Kirkland Propositions 1 and 2 on the November ballot. The meeting started at 7pm with neighborhood updates. Presentations on the levies began around 7:30pm. City staff  summarized Proposition 1, a levy for road maintenance and traffic improvements, and Proposition 2, a levy to maintain and improve Kirkland parks.
