Welcome

Welcome to FHNA’s new website! We hope you like it. And we hope even more that you’ll use it to learn what’s going on in our neighborhood and to tell us what you are thinking about. Do you want to compliment someone on a good idea or completing a useful project? Do you want to let us know about an issue that needs to be addressed, or about one that you think is being handled badly? Do you have an event or initiative that you hope your neighbors will support? Let us hear from you! We’ve tried hard to organize things on this site in a logical way. Click on the About Us tab in the menu bar if you want to learn about our history or our board of directors and committees, or read our mission statement, bylaws, budget or meeting minutes. Our key initiatives appear in the Projects drop down menu: go there to find out what we are trying to achieve this year and to volunteer to help as well. Looking for something to do this weekend or in the next few weeks? Click on Events.  And we have a Resources drop down menu for links to city, county, and other agencies and organizations that affect us or have interesting programs for Finn Hill residents. We hope to build these sections out over the coming months....

Lacrosse Field – Hearings on Wednesday, April 25, and Monday, April 30.

We just learned that the King County Council’s Transportation, Environment and Economy Committee will consider the proposed 30-year use agreement between Kirkland  Youth Lacrosse and King County Parks for the new lacrosse field in Big Finn Hill Park.  This hearing will take place Wednesday morning – that’s TOMORROW – at 9:30am in Room 1001 at the King County Courthouse, 516 Third Avenue in Seattle.  If the committee approves the agreement, the full Council is expected to review the document on April 30. If you have concerns about the use agreement, now is the time to let your Council member, Bob Ferguson, hear your views! You can testify on the 25th and the 30th, and you can also submit written comments to the Committee and Council. A summary of developments concerning the lacrosse field appears on the City of Kirkland’s website: http://www.kirklandwa.gov/depart/Planning/Development/BFHP_Renovation.htm.  Click here to see the proposed use agreement: Lacrosse field use...

Reminder: King County Council members Ferguson and Hague host town hall on Wednesday, February 1, at Finn Hill Jr High

This is an additional reminder that King County Council members Bob Ferguson and Jane Hague are hosting a neighborhood meeting in the cafeteria of Finn Hill Junior High this Wednesday at 7pm. Finn Hill Junior Hill is located on 132nd Street, at the corner of 84th Avenue. As you may know, Council member Jane Hague’s district has included Finn Hill for many years, and she has been instrumental in helping this community save the Juanita Woodlands, establish the Finn Hill Park and Recreation District, and enact legislation to protect significant trees and minimize hillside erosion. As a result of King County’s recent redistricting, the Finn Hill neighborhood has been moved out of Jane Hague’s district and into the district of Council member Bob Ferguson, who also serves the communities of Redmond, Bothell, Kenmore, Lake Forest, Shoreline, and North Seattle. Jane will continue to represent Kirkland to the south of Finn Hill and Juanita, as well as Bellevue and Mercer Island. The meeting on February 1 will be an opportunity for Bob to introduce himself personally to us and for Jane and Bob to discuss how they expect to work together in King County government on issues of common interest to Kirkland residents. And, most importantly, this meeting will provide you with a chance to ask questions about issues that affect Finn Hill and the County generally. If you have...
